H&M Studio Collection SS26 – Accessories

ROLE: Senior Product Designer – Accessories

CONTEXT: In-house design team, H&M Studio

FOCUS: Design-led accessory development supporting seasonal concept and Studio identity

The Project

Project overview

H&M Studio Collection SS26 explored a contemporary Studio expression with a strong focus on silhouette, attitude, and seasonal relevance. The objective was to create accessories that elevated the collection’s fashion narrative while remaining wearable and aligned with H&M Studio’s design standards.

As Senior Product Designer for accessories, I was responsible for developing accessory designs that strengthened the collection’s visual language and contributed to a cohesive runway and campaign expression.

My role & responsibilities

I worked with a high level of creative ownership across the accessory category, including:

  • Translating the seasonal concept into accessory designs with a clear Studio identity

  • Developing shape, proportion, and material direction in line with the collection vision

  • Collaborating closely with the wider design team to ensure coherence across categories

  • Refining designs through fittings, internal reviews, and iterative feedback

Design approach

The design approach balanced fashion expression and function. Accessories were developed to enhance the collection’s silhouettes and styling, acting as key elements rather than secondary additions.

Key considerations included:

  • Creating accessories that support and amplify the seasonal concept

  • Using proportion and material contrast to add visual interest

  • Ensuring pieces function both on runway and in everyday styling contexts

Material choices and detailing were refined to deliver a confident Studio expression without overpowering the garments.

Challenges & considerations

Designing for a Studio Collection requires navigating the space between creative direction and commercial reality.

Key challenges included:

  • Translating conceptual ideas into producible accessory designs

  • Balancing statement elements with wearability

  • Working within established cost and production frameworks

These considerations played a crucial role in shaping focused and resolved design outcomes.

Final outcome

The final accessory range complemented the SS26 Studio Collection by reinforcing the overall styling and design narrative. The accessories were featured across campaign imagery and collection styling, contributing to a cohesive and elevated Studio presentation.

Learnings

This project emphasized the importance of clarity in seasonal storytelling and the role accessories play in shaping the overall perception of a collection. Thoughtful restraint and alignment proved essential in achieving a strong Studio expression.
